Joseph B. Swan, Jr.

“I believe in giving my clients a straightforward and frank assessment of the complex issues in preparing for and conducting a jury trial. The client needs to understand that there are no winners in protracted litigation and that a quick resolution of a lawsuit is generally in everyone’s best interests. However, there are times when a case needs to proceed to trial, and I am always prepared to do so.”

Joe Swan’s practice focuses on complex litigation, with an emphasis on catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, tort and construction defect
litigation, professional liability, products liability, premises liability, auto liability, dram shop liability
and insurance coverage and bad faith. He also provides mediation
services.

He is a Certified Specialist in Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Litigation (Arizona Board of Legal Specialization) and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In the ABOTA, Joe has achieved the designation of Advocate, criteria for which include serving as lead counsel in 50 or more jury trials.

Joe is a seven-time Super Lawyers® selectee and a member of the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel and is listed in “Who’s Who in American Law.”

The 1967 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law is also a former Judge Pro Tem (1989-2004) in Maricopa County Superior Court and has been AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell for more than 30 years.

Joe left his home town of Chicago in 1960 to attend the University of Arizona and has never left. He and his wife Karyn enjoy traveling and spending time spoiling their grandson. Joe also enjoys playing golf at Arizona Country Club and White Mountain Country Club.
